Origin: Cameroon
Hand carved from one piece of wood and finely decorated with gold beads and cowrie shells, this shield will provide an attractive addition to your living space. The shield is available mounted on a stand for easy display, or it can be wall hung.
Shields were used traditionally in Africa not only as defensive weapons, but also as decorative or ritual objects that held symbolic meaning. It is believed that the wooden African shield originated from the Tikar tribe in Cameroon. The local people, the Bamileke, are renowned for their skilled craftsmanship and great sense of business.
